Untrue, what is true.

Burial is really fucking good. Untrue is a great album, especially late at night. I bought this record in Japan after having an urge to listen to it. So home hasn't changed much, but I am finding it's nice to be in one place for a change. The trip to AZ was a bit of a disaster but at least the show turned out great (American Airlines is terrible -remember never to fly with them again). There is a lot of work to do, but it's hard being motivated with so much free time surrounding me and all of the distractions. I picked up the new M83 record which promised to be more focused and developed than their previous releases, but it's still not what I would have preferred. That's the first record I bought since being home - still loving the new Crystal Castles/Beach House/Destroyer, etc. I decided not to go to Coachella this weekend so I will be around and going to The Stickup show in Toronto. Bummed on missing Kraftwerk, but apparently Florian Schneider isn't even on the tour. Picked up the Minimum Maximum DVD... mind-blowing.  I've been making a lot of techno these days (even more than before).  Today I picked up the Kaossilator and it's rocking my world.  One day I will post some of the noise I have been making, for now it stays in my headphones.

Futurama

So I've become rather obsessed with some of the rapid development that is occurring around the world right now.  First Dubai and all of it's 'world-record-breaking' buildings and now China.  There seems to be some comparison between the two places and the innovative/futuristic designs that are being adapted.  One of the most intriguing developments is the "Dongtan Eco City" (the world's first fully-sustainable metropolis) to be completed by 2040. Now I wonder how long until the Western world decides to compete in this Futuristic building frenzy. Perhaps the life of the Jetsons isn't far off from being a reality. I love technology. Get stoked.
In other news, I am off to Tucson, AZ tomorrow for a show on Friday.  It's supposed to be really hot so I should probably pack some shorts.  Today is beautiful outside, so I should probably enjoy this too.  I love warm weather.  Get stoked?  Oh yah, tomorrow Kidrobot releases the AdultSwim series featuring 2 characters from Metalocalypse ... VERY stoked.  I need to hit up Magic Pony when I get home on Saturday.  Going to see Destroyer that night, most likely going to rule.

Electro-Madness.

My gear: MicroKorg, EMX-1/ESX-1, KaossPad KP3 - acquired over the last couple of years, now fully setup and ready to make it all happen.  I'm obsessed with making dance music, I cannot lie about it.  Pretty stoked about all of this right now.  It just sucks that it sits around while I am on tour!  I will be posting some sweet jams real soon.  Battle Wound will rock again.  I'm really tired now... today was long and exhausting.  Peace.

Get fucking real.

Company mergers, down-sizing, profit losses, cutbacks, pirating, etc. - all available in the new video game, "Record Label"!  In a marketplace where record labels are becoming more extinct, I think it would only make more sense to create a game called "D.I.Y. Band"/"Punk Band" (it has a decent ring to it) or something more relevant.  They might as well create a game called "My Pet Dinosaur" and base it on the hypothetical raising of dinosaurs in modern society (ie. not relevant or possible).  I really hope that it's impossible to 'beat' the game, just as it's increasingly difficult to sell records in REAL LIFE - for a simulated game, it should be modeled after the real world and not the music industry a decade ago.

I can't get over this quote,
"...whether you’re paying off DJs under the table for additional radio play, faking your own artists' album reviews, or simply determining what private information you want the spyware on their CDs to collect for you... we guarantee that you’ll be able to experience all the pleasure, satisfaction and unaccountability of being a real-life Sony BMG executive."

Sweet.

Seriously, 6 to 3?

Terrible final score.  Bluejays disappointed again tonight at the Rogers Centre.  Started off great and blew it in the last inning.  I was never really a Jays fan growing up, but I did go to a lot of games.  It would be great to see them do well again, but it doesn't seem possible.  I really liked the Mets as a kid.  Oh well, sports.

Pocket Calculator.

There is just something magical about the combination of cheese curds, gravy (vegetarian) and french fries - poutine.  It's not the only reason I am going to Montreal for the weekend, but it's definitely a great incentive to make the trip.  Fortunately the dark cloudy skies and cold weather is supposed to be disappearing by tomorrow morning, so the trip will really nice.  I will have iPod cranked up and the caffeine flowing to get me through the drive.  Loud music, driving, and solitude is therapeutic.  I'm just excited to step out for a little bit since being at home for such a while is a bit of a shock.  Still debating on some more trips over the next month too.  I'm torn about Coachella, but seeing Kraftwerk would be massive.  They have to be one of the most interesting and unique bands of all time (Refer to their Wikipedia entry).  Off to sleep soon, peace.

Dubai for a new millennium.

Wow.  The future is here, in Dubai.  I need to start investing in Middle Eastern architecture.
